To the Cologne furniture fair in 1970 Verner Panton sketched the RING LAMP. How the name already allows to suppose, the wall and covers light exists of rings becoming smaller inwards. Besides, the light source, integrated in the centre, forms the most internal circle. Thought up as a module, several of these lights built up to be shining creation elements with psychedelic colour effects. Verner Paton loved his light extensive. In his private house in Swiss Binningen he used them RING LAMP in the foyer. More exactly said he covered the walls and decks of the passageway completely with it. For visiona 2 he combined them RING LAMP, on the Bayer AG-ship formed by him, with his amoeba chair. At that time Louis Poulsen was producer – until 2009 the light was produced by vitra in Germany. Besides, it is perpetuated in the vitra design museum. The RING LAMP, the forerunner of the Spy, originated in 1971, was available in violet, red and orange. She embodies the Space Age style.
