C1 Chair from vitra. Design 1959 by Verner Panton.

Year: 1959

In the end of the 50s Verner Panton was internationally celebrated as a designer for the first time. Absolutely the interiour creation of the Kom-Igen Inn plaid an important part in contributing. There the potential of Panton became experienceable for the first time. The defining importance Panton would have for the Pop Art style became foreseeable while looking at his Cone Chair Series K and the armchair C1. The latter is based again on a geometrical form, namely that of a divided ball. The turnable, anteverted seat, is extremely comfortable. Thus the upholstered seat bowl admits both moods, straight sitting and lolling around, equally. First from Plus-linje in Denmark made, vitra produces the C1 and the C1 Stool as re-editions since 2008.
