The WIRE CONE CHAIR was the second chair of the Series K of designer Verner Panton. Formed from a mesh of steel wire, it has the same basic form as his cone-chair-relatives, the Cone Chair and the Heart Cone Chair. In the back and seating surface round cushions in nine different colours sewed in guarantee the seat comfort. In this manner the transparency of the undressed steel construction is preserved. At the same time the upholstery put a coloured accent to the silvery shining framework. In the beginning the WIRE CONE CHAIR was produced by Plus-linje, later Fritz Hansen, both Danish companies. Until 2009 the Swiss manufacturer vitra was producing the piece of furniture in licence.
